A Collaborative Autoethnography on the Interpretation Experience of the Meaning of Existence as a Mechanism of Growing Life
Song Min-Jung

Kim Myeung-Chan
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe an interpretation process of my existence and its related experience and learning during the process of interpretation. Data were analyzed via a collaborative autoethnography, a qualitative research method to describe psychological experiences from insider point of view. Data were collected from memories of recollection, self-reflection journal, records of individual and group counseling, the existing literature, etc. The findings of this study revealed the five major themes, including (a) self-defeating attitude and a life without questions, (b) the meaninglessness of life and the fear of death, (c) knowing that you don't know, (d) transition to life that thinks about meaning, and (e) experience of being through interpretation. The findings provide several implications for growing life: First, growing life is evident in an increasing number of questions about life through a process of interpretation: Second, a growing life is a life that is faithful to your needs. Third, growing life is to reflect on what it means to be who I am and experience it as a process of reforming self-identity. Fourth, growth takes place in interactions through relationships. Implications and suggestions are presented.
